4th of July and my previous readings
Happy 4th of July from Florida! I'm in New Smyrna with family just waiting for the fireworks tonight. Been geocaching from Orlando to Daytona, and had a good time.
I'm going to tell about my previous readings and discussions. Probably only the LDS church right now (may change next month, in another hour, or whenever). I'm not going to present the many websites from both sides right now, but maybe later. I have websites for missionaries, for apologetics (both sides), for merchandise, etc.
I have read approximately 1/3 of the Book of Mormon. I have also been to the church in Maryville, the college Sunday School there, and met the bishop. My friend presented my with Gospel Principles, and I have read at least through chapter 16-17, and chapter 47 on exaltation. I have also been to the Manhattan Temple, where I was presented with pamphlets and brochures from the mormon missionaries.
On the other side of the spectrum, I have read One Nation Under Gods and am currently reading Under the Banner of Heaven (dealing with the FLDS). The Institute for Religious Research also presented pamphlets at the temple speaking about the baptism and salvation of mormons.
The missionaries that I spoke to (along with my roommate, as I knew I couldn't do that alone) ended (in my humble opinion) with them leaving in a hurry. They ended up leaving missionary texts behind, and our friends decided we could take them. So I have read through a few of those as well, knowing a mormon missionaries requirements.
Anyway, it's 6pm, and I'm ready for ribs. Hope everyone has a good night tonight, has fun with the fireworks and hamburgers, and I will be back in Tennessee Wednesday.
