The charismatic group is generally defined by the psychological elements of its members. They "(1) have a shared belief system, (2) sustain a high level of social cohesiveness, (3) are strongly influenced by the group's behavioral norms, and (4) impute charismatic (or sometimes divine) power to the group or its leadership" (Galanter 4).

First Post Tonight

Just going to rant and rave for a minute.  Reading Newsweek this afternoon, I'm hearing that the "threat today from Al Qaeda may be just as serious as in the summer of 2001".  The "relationship between Iran and Al Qaeda" has come from the commission this week, and the only thing I can say is that's stupid.  Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran; the blame for destruction has been moved from country to country, when it is a group that can move from location to location, and from my perspective (obviously not the gov't) they can appear as one thing at one point and another thing at another, one thing to one group and another thing to another, one idea at one point and a completely different idea when it comes down to it.  They are a changing entity, with time, the presentation, and through different perspectives.

It just seems to me as if we are attacking not only Al Qaeda, but unfairly persecuting those that "harbor" Al Qaeda, who, may I add, are not American citizens.  They may have different values and definitely different beliefs, and are not a democracy!  The United States, however, being the ideal example to be followed by all nations, has imposed it's standards upon them to show them the truth...

Now the United States will be sure to find the next most threatening entity, attack and subdue, and force them into a radical form of government which may not fit their standards.  Just recently from my reading, Weber spoke about the conformity of the Hindu culture, and the desire to fulfill one's caste.  The untouchable does not strive to become more, he strives to be as good at being where he is as possible.  Just an example of how our government would destroy another culture.

Will probably remove this post after a day or two...not sure.
