The charismatic group is generally defined by the psychological elements of its members. They "(1) have a shared belief system, (2) sustain a high level of social cohesiveness, (3) are strongly influenced by the group's behavioral norms, and (4) impute charismatic (or sometimes divine) power to the group or its leadership" (Galanter 4).

The Religion of Freemasonry

Reading Introduction to Freemasonry I-III, I believe it shows a religion on nearly every page, except those few pages where it fights the definition of religion.

Religion is defined as:

Merriam Webster 11th Edition:
2: a personal set or institutional system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices
3: scrupulous conformity
4: a cause, principle, or system of beliefs helt to with ardor and faith

American Heritage:
2: a belief upheld or pursued with zeal and devotion

The books claim that freemasonry is not a religion because of the lack of theology. However, theology is the study of the religion by those devoted, and merely because freemasonry does not have theology does not prevent it from being a religion.

Well, I'm off. This is my first post in awhile because I'm reading new material.
